Anxiety & Affirmations

TW: Anxiety/Panic Disorder/Trauma

Anxiety. Panic Disorder. Agoraphobia. This year has proven to been a whirlwind of sensations and feelings that have shaken me to my core. All of which deserve their own blog post- and they will soon. For now, I wanted to share some of the quotes and thoughts that I’ve collected throughout the year that- in a sense- keep me going. I thought it’d be a good reminder- whether you struggle with anxiety or not.

Nothing I cannot handle will come my way. I got this quote from a meditation Radhi Devlukia uploaded to YouTube. This is one of my favorite meditation videos. I believe that God won't give you anything you can't get through. Also, most of these feelings of anxiety and panic you've felt before- and you were able to get through. So why wouldn't you be able to get through it again? Easier said than done- trust me I know. However, it is a good mindset to have. If you're looking for a good meditation, consider watching this. I practice this whenever I wake up with a little extra anxiety in the morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIaVziKqMz4

Remember to thank God for the troubles you don't have. I think this is just something good to keep tucked in the back of your mind. We're always praying our troubles away, but we never stop to realize how many troubles He didn't put in our life.

If you don't look after your wellness, you'll be looking after your illness. I just want to emphasize that this includes MENTAL and PHYSICAL wellness/illness. Stress/emotional trauma can manifest in a physical form- something I learned very well this year. Make sure you're being mindful of your overall health, because it does take a toll on your body.

Everyday we are presented with a choice... either to evolve or repeat. To me, I interpret this as: if we are tired of staying stagnant in life... if we are craving more for ourselves... if we have goals to accomplish... the only thing we can do is exactly that. DO something about it. Otherwise we'll stay exactly where we are.

Never wish away a minute of your life. I got this particular quote from a Tik Tok I saw. It was in the context of a woman waiting in line and wishing she could fast forward time. She came to the realization that she finds herself always doing this- and how she didn't like that about herself. The point is to appreciate each second you have in this life. Although it can be hard, try and appreciate your time while you still can.

If you survived the trauma, you will survive the recovery. If you have the strength to go through what you've gone through, you have the capability of picking yourself back up again. Be patient with yourself.

Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present. This echoes an earlier quote, but I like this one a lot. As you can tell, I've needed a lot of reassurance/motivation to appreciate each day, because it's been hard to feel grateful lately. Thinking and reminding myself of these little sayings- truly grounds me.

That which you resist, persists. Essentially meaning- if you keep avoiding or putting off your problems- they will continue to exist. Until and unless you face them, they will continue to persist.

I have a lot more quotes saved up that I can share in a future post. I hope this helped at least one person. Anxiety is a bitch. Mindfulness and gratitude can go a long way. The thoughts you actively focus on will manifest. Try to remember that next time you're really struggling with your mental health.

love, Sof
