As promised, here's part II of my NYC adventures. If you haven't checked out the first part, here it is: https://www.sof-stateofmind.com/blog/a-new-york-minute-part-i-of-ii
Lower Manhattan
The next few stops are all found in lower Manhattan. Lower Manhattan's vibe is very different from the rest of Manhattan. It's more business oriented and filled with political history given, it is the home of Wall Street.
The Stock Exchange
Of course we couldn't go inside, but the Stock Exchange from the outside is a vision. It's HUGE and the architecture is grand. You can definitely feel the importance of this building and the fact that really significant things happen within it's walls.
One World Trade Center
The World Trade Center is a group of buildings located in lower Manhattan. The one I pictured below is the One World Trade Center. Fun fact, it's the tallest building in the western hemisphere.
National September 11th Memorial and Museum
Such an out of body experience. I highly recommend checking it out. The memorial is stunning. It was nice to visit and pay our respect.
Oculus
I really wish I had gone inside because this is the coolest building I've ever seen... It's actually a train station which makes this building even more fascinating.
Museum of Modern Art
Easily a highlight of my trip. One of the coolest and "modern" art museums I've ever been to. A Starry Night by Vincent Van Gough resides here. I also had THE best coffee in one of the cafes located in the museum.
Wicked on Broadway
You can't go to the Big Apple without catching a show on Broadway. We saw Wicked which I had been wanting to watch for a while now, and the show did not disappoint. The only downside was that we sat too close to the stage which I don't recommend. It's better to watch the show from a distance so you can understand the play better.
Statue of Liberty
There's not much to do here except take your pictures, but of course everyone should see this at least once. Also the picture looks really gloomy. It was actually raining on and off this day which put a bit of a damper on the mood and the pictures.
The Highline
In Chelsea, there is a long railroad turned into a little market. It stretches for miles and has interesting art, cafes and cute little shops. I didn't take too many pictures of the highline itself, but below are some pictures of the view from it.
The Metropolitan Museum
One of my favorite places. If you want to see the whole thing, it may take you a full day or more. It's divided into art from different countries/continents and their respective time eras. You get to decide how much you want to pay to get in because all the money is "donated" to the museum. It's like a giant castle.
Washington Square Park
Found in the heart of New York University, this was a nice area to walk around.
Princeton
We had a few relatives of ours that live in New Jersey take us to Princeton University for a casual browse around. The campus is an old college town. It's very posh and quiet compared to the bustling streets of the city.
That's all I have for now. I love NYC, and there are so many more places I'd love to check out and explore. Literally counting the days down until I get to go back!
